Why Homeowners Call Us

Clay outlasts almost everything.

A clay tile roof can outlast the house — 75 to 100 years is normal. Fired clay doesn’t fade, rot, or burn, and it shrugs off our sun like nothing else. It’s why the oldest roofs in Arizona are still clay.

But like any tile, the clay isn’t the waterproofing — the underlayment beneath it is. We install high-temp underlayment and flash every detail correctly, so the system lasts as long as the tile. Three generations on Valley roofs means we know clay.

What’s Included

A clay roof done to last.

Tear-off or re-lay

Failing clay roofs stripped to the deck, or good clay carefully lifted and re-laid over new underlayment — clay is worth saving.

Deck inspection & repair

With the tile off, we check the decking for rot and damage and repair it before the new system goes down.

High-temp underlayment

The real waterproof layer beneath the clay — high-temp underlayment rated for Arizona heat, not builder-grade felt.

Flashing & details

New flashing at walls, chimneys, and valleys, plus birdstop and mortar detailing — the finish work a clay roof lives or dies on.

Barrel, S-tile & 2-piece

New clay tile in the profile that fits your home — barrel (mission), S-tile, or two-piece — matched to color and style.

Manufacturer warranty

Installed to spec so your clay and underlayment qualify for the full manufacturer warranty — registered in your name.

CLAY IN THE VALLEY

Where clay roofs live.

Clay is the roof on Arcadia’s older homes, Paradise Valley estates, and the Santa Fe and Spanish Colonial homes of Cave Creek and Carefree. Many of those roofs have tile that’s still perfect over underlayment that’s long gone. And because clay holds its color for life, a well-built clay roof looks the same in 50 years as it does the day it goes on.

CLAY TAKES A DIFFERENT CREW

Clay breaks if you walk it wrong.

Fired clay is harder than concrete but more brittle. Walk it like a concrete tile roof and you crack it. Our crews know where to step, how to lift and stack clay without losing pieces, and how to set barrel and S-tile with the mortar and fastening each profile needs. On older roofs we source matching salvage clay, so repairs disappear into the roof.

Common Questions

What homeowners ask first.

How long does a clay tile roof last?+
The clay itself can last 75 to 100 years. The underlayment under it needs replacing every 15 to 25 years in Arizona heat.
Can you reuse my existing clay tile?+
Usually, yes. Clay is worth saving. We lift it carefully, replace the underlayment, and relay it with matched salvage for any broken pieces.
Can you match my old clay tile?+
In most cases. We source matching salvage clay for older and discontinued profiles.
Clay or concrete tile — what’s the difference?+
Clay costs more, lasts longer, and never fades. Concrete is lighter on the budget and the Valley standard. Both need the same quality underlayment.
Is clay tile too heavy for my house?+
Homes built for tile can usually carry clay. Switching from shingle to clay needs a structural check first, and we’ll tell you if you need one.
