Why Hardacker

A custom roof is drawn before it is installed.

Custom homes fail at the details, not the field. Valleys that die into stone, transitions between tile and standing seam, parapets, clerestories, and eyebrow dormers — every one of them is a place where a production crew improvises and a leak starts.

We read the elevations before we quote. Flashing details get drawn, underlayment is specified to the assembly, and the crew that starts your roof is the crew that finishes it. Three generations in the Valley, one project at a time.

The Standard

What a custom roof demands.

Drawn to the elevations

We detail valleys, transitions, and terminations off your plans before a single bundle is ordered.

Mixed assemblies

Tile into standing seam, flat into pitched — dissimilar systems need engineered transitions, not caulk.

Monsoon detailing

Parapets, crickets, and clerestories are where haboob-driven rain finds its way in. They get built first.

Assemblies for 115°

Ventilation and underlayment chosen for the deck temperature your roof will actually reach.

One crew, start to finish

The crew that opens your roof closes it. No subcontracted handoffs mid-project.

Documented throughout

Photo record from tear-off to final walk, plus a written scope your builder can hold us to.

Systems We Install

Three systems, matched to the architecture.

Different homes call for different assemblies. We specify the system that fits the pitch, the design language, and the long-term performance the roof needs to deliver — then install it to the manufacturer’s letter.

Clay & Concrete Tile

Barrel & S-Profile Tile

The Valley’s signature roof, installed to spec — not stacked and hoped for.

  • Westlake, Eagle & Boral systems
  • Two-ply underlayment options
  • Mortar or mechanical set
  • 40–50+ year lifespan (clay longer)

Standing Seam

Architectural Metal

Clean lines for modern desert homes, with concealed fasteners and true panel runs.

  • 1.5″ and 2″ seam heights
  • 24-gauge striated panels
  • Concealed clip system
  • 40–60+ year lifespan

Low-Slope & Flat

Membrane & Coating

Where the architecture goes flat, the assembly changes with it.

  • Polyglass modified systems
  • Tapered insulation packages
  • Reflective coating options
  • Ponding-resistant detailing

Built for Arizona

The tile is the look. The underlayment is the roof.

Roof surfaces in the Valley routinely pass 160°F in summer, and monsoon storms drive rain sideways. On a tile roof, the tile carries the design and shields against UV. The underlayment keeps water out, and in this climate it typically fails decades before the tile does. We specify underlayment, flashing, and ventilation for Arizona conditions, not a national default.

For Builders & Architects

Built around your schedule and your spec.

Plan Review & Takeoffs

Accurate quotes from your plans, with drainage, parapet, and transition issues flagged before they reach the field.

Scheduled to Your Build

We coordinate with your superintendent on framing, dry-in, and install so the roof never holds up the schedule.

Early Dry-In

Underlayment goes on early to protect the interior while the rest of the build moves forward.

Installed to Spec

Manufacturer-specified installation on every assembly, so every warranty stays valid.

Design Review Support

Material specs, colors, and samples for HOA and architectural review submittals.

Closeout Package

Photos, warranty documents, and material records delivered to the owner at completion.

Warranty & Standards

Backed in writing, not in conversation.

Manufacturer warranties only hold when the assembly is installed exactly as written. We install to that letter — then hand you the documentation that proves it.

Where We Build

Custom home roofing across the Valley’s luxury markets.

Paradise Valley

Estate lots and hillside homes on Camelback and Mummy Mountain, where roofs are seen from above and from neighboring properties. We roof custom homes in clay tile, standing seam metal, and flat-roof contemporary systems, detailed for homes where every angle is visible.

North Scottsdale

We’ve roofed homes across Sereno Canyon’s Enclave, Manor, Villas, Estate, and Super Estate collections, plus Shadow Ridge and The Retreat at Desert Mountain, with Story Rock on our schedule. We also serve custom builds in DC Ranch, Silverleaf, Estancia, Troon, and Pinnacle Peak, where architectural review sets the standard.

Fountain Hills

In Adero Canyon we’ve roofed homes across the Collection, Atalon, and Avery series. We also serve custom homes in FireRock, CopperWynd, and hillside lots throughout Fountain Hills, where the roof is part of the view.

Cave Creek & Carefree

Large desert-foothill lots, territorial and Santa Fe architecture, and flat foam roofs with parapets. Highpoint is on our schedule, and we serve custom builds throughout both towns.

Arcadia & Biltmore

Teardown rebuilds and modern farmhouse builds, with heavy use of standing seam metal. We roof new custom homes throughout Arcadia and the Biltmore corridor.

Beyond the Valley

Luxury lots outside these neighborhoods — Rio Verde, Gold Canyon, Prescott-area second homes — are scheduled case by case. Send the plans and we’ll tell you quickly if it fits our calendar.

Common Questions

What builders and homeowners ask.

Do you work directly with our architect or builder?+
Yes — and we prefer to. We review elevations and roof details during design, flag transitions that will cause problems, and give your builder a written assembly they can schedule around.
Can you mix tile and standing seam on one roof?+
Regularly. Mixed assemblies are common on custom elevations. The work is in the transition detail — we engineer it rather than improvising it on the deck.
How long does a custom roof take?+
Most run two to four weeks depending on complexity, tear-off, and how many trades we're sequencing around. You get a date range in the proposal, not a guess on the phone.
What warranty comes with it?+
Manufacturer system warranties up to 50 years on qualifying assemblies, plus our own written workmanship guarantee. Both are handed over at closeout with the photo record.
When should the roofer be involved in a custom build?+
At plan review. Early involvement catches drainage, parapet, and transition issues while they're still cheap to fix on paper.
Tile or metal for a desert contemporary home?+
Standing seam metal usually fits the clean lines. Many contemporary homes combine metal accents with flat foam sections.
Can you help with HOA architectural review?+
Yes. We provide material specs, colors, and samples for your submittal.

What homeowners say.

Luxury custom home with tile and standing-seam metal roof★★★★★5.0Rated on Google

“I got three estimates and chose Hardacker. On time, showed up when they said, and cleaned up after themselves. A shingle lifted later and they came right out to fix it. I’ve referred them to several people since.”

LeanettePhoenix · via Google

“I needed the job done in a week between HVAC removal and the new system. Despite a rainy week and other challenges, Hardacker made it happen and kept the fees reasonable. The roof looks great.”
